The Mairirua operates with a Maritime Operators Certificate and has all the required safety and navigation equipment including depth sounder/fish finder radar and chart plotter.

Well appointed 14.6 metre long comfortable displacement type vessel operates out of Bluff for Blue Cod fishing day trips and overnight adventure charters in the area of Foveaux Strait and Stewart Island. Full kitchen facilities including gas BBQ. Complimentary tea, coffee, milk, and sugar.

Trip Types

We offer day and overnight charter trips on the Mairirua. All trips are weather dependant.

Fishing Day Trips

Surveyed for up to 20 day fishers.
Ideal for family outings, social clubs and work groups.
Full walk around deck gives plenty of fishing space.
Rods may be hired but you are welcome to bring your own fishing gear. Bait is provided.

Overnight Adventure Charters

Mairirua has 2 double cabins and 4 single bunks for up to 8 guests with a comfortable heated lounge. Pillows are provided but please bring sleeping bags.

Adventure charters to Stewart Island:
Area fishing, sightseeing and anchoring up in one of the many picturesque bays to have a social evening and sample the day’s catch. Fish your way back home the next day.
